Eleni Tsiliviki has been financially supported for years from her wealthy American uncle, who sends her monthly checks. Her stingy husband Antonis has insisted on never informing the uncle concerning their marriage, so that the financial support can continue indefinitely. Following several years of marriage, Antonis systematically neglects his wife and does not repair their run-down house. The uncle eventually comes for a visit. Since he is convinced that his niece is still single, he has brought a wealthy suitor for her. Antonis will have to both hide his real identity from the deceived uncle, and to convince his fed-up wife to give him another chance.
