Plot Storyline
Six years later, Ralphie has his eyes fixed on a car. But trouble is sure to follow.
Adult Ralph Parker continues his reminiscences of childhood Christmases in small town Hohman, Indiana as he did in A Christmas Story (1983). It's 1946, six years later from that earlier reminiscence, and this time Ralph is fifteen on the verge of turning sixteen. He admits that not much has changed in his family in those six years, including his father's continuing battle with the home's furnace, his kid brother Randy being overly bundled up by their caring mother to prepare for the inclement weather, their mother's objections to either him or Randy cursing, they risk not having a turkey for Christmas dinner despite their father being a turkey maniac, Ralph's best friendships with Schwartz and Flick, and Ralph's still own wonderment over the entire event of Christmas despite his fear of opening Aunt Clara's Christmas present as she thinks of him perpetually being six. He also admits that there are two new focuses in his life, one being girls, specifically unapproachable Drucilla Gootrad as she is dating the school's quarterback, Todd Chapin, and two being cars as he under his father's "guidance" is learning how to drive and as he spies the car of his dreams at Hank Catenhauser's used car lot. But the necessary focus on this Christmas turns to raising $85 by Christmas Eve or risk going to jail.
