One of the greatest heists ever has just been committed, known as the Great Gold Robbery of Cairo. Interpol knows whoever the robbers, unknown to them led by a man named Okra, have the three hundred gold bars weighing two tons on a ship destined for Europe, the issue for the robbers in how to smuggle them through whatever port they have chosen. Interpol knows that only a handful of criminal masterminds would be able to handle the smuggling job, the most-likely candidate being Italy-based Aldo Vanucci despite he being in prison and thus in semi-retirement. Despite Vanucci knowing that he could break out of prison at any time, he has no desire to do so, that is until he learns that his sixteen year old younger sister, Gina Vanucci, has purportedly grown into a loose young woman, he wanting to break out more to ensure she conducts herself in a proper manner. After breaking out, he decides to take the job in coming up with a plan stemming from Gina, who has taken the stage name Gina Romantica, trying to break into the movies, and the arrival into Italy of former American movie star Tony Powell, who does not want to admit to the world that he is far past his prime: to go undercover as movie director Federico Fabrizi in making a movie starring Gina and an oblivious Powell centered around the actual smuggling of the gold bars through the small seaside town of Sevalio. He will use the unwitting townsfolk, including the mayor and police chief, as extras, in they all just wanting to be in the movies, while in reality they will be assisting in the actual smuggling. While the Italian police are after Aldo solely for the escape, he may have other problems in carrying out the plan successfully like actually having to make a movie.
