When Sher Khan uses his whip to capture Marjina, Alibaba comes to her rescue and takes her as well as her assistant, Abu, to his house where he lives with his sister, Salma, and a maid, Sitara. When Marjina indicates she loves him, he rejects her as he hates women. Subsequently, Marjina learns that his hatred is due to accusations leveled at him by his very own brother, Qasim Khan, for attempting to molest the latter's wife, Fatima. While tracking his donkey down, Alibaba comes across some thieves, who use a secret code to open a cavern containing looted treasures and jewelry. He loads two sacks on his donkey, takes it home, gives some away, and uses the rest to improves their lifestyle. Qasim hears of this, and on the pretext of patching-up, finds out about the cavern, heads out there, is able to gain entry, but after taking considerable wealth, forgets the code and is trapped. The thieves, led by Abu Hassan, find him hiding, behead him, and depart. Alibaba finds his corpse, has a tailor sue his body together and cremates him. The emperor appoints him as the Emir, and he hopes to marry Marjina soon - little realizing that an enraged Abu Hassan has located his whereabouts and, using treachery and deception, is all set to kill him.
