Plot
Storyline
A tender love story intertwines with the Allied conquest of Sicily during World War II, where the US Army has to gain support from the locals.
A love story set in July 1943 when Allied forces land in Sicily. Arturo loves Flora, the daughter of a restaurant owner, but her hand in marriage has been promised to a Mafia boss. Arturo leaves Sicily for America in search of fortune, joins the US Army, and ends up returning to Sicily with the army. In the background, a clever narrative of how relations between the Allies and the Mafia during World War II shaped the fate of Sicily for years to come.
