The daredevil Joe and his highly intelligent but hypochondriac buddy Terry don't want to rot in jail. After a breakout, the duo comes up with a revolutionary scheme: bank robberies without stress or bloodshed. Perfectly disguised, they surprise the branch managers at home the night before, politely take their families into custody overnight, and calmly clean out the vault in the morning. Stuntman Harvey casually covers their backs as the getaway driver. Soon, the peace-loving "Overnight Bandits," for whose capture the police have offered a million-dollar reward, are making headlines. By chance, Joe and Terry meet the fascinating Kate. Frustrated with her marriage, she joins the criminal duo and falls in love with heartthrob Joe. When Kate also starts seeing Terry, the trio faces a major crisis. To make their escape to Mexico with one last big heist, the gangsters set their sights on a risky plan.
