Plot
Storyline
Governor Pontius Pilate gave the populace a choice to spare either Barabbas, a criminal, or Jesus, condemned as a heretic, from crucifixion. The masses chose Barrabas, and he is haunted by the image of Jesus for the rest of his life.
During the turbulent Passover season in first-century Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate, the fifth governor of the Roman province of Judaea, faces a momentous dilemma. Bound by custom, the indecisive ruler offers the agitated crowd a choice: release either Jesus of Nazareth or Barabbas, an unrepentant thief and murderer. Still, the people cry out for Barabbas' freedom. As Jesus takes His place on the cross, this grim exchange sets Barabbas on a harrowing path of faith, from the suffocating depths of Sicily's sulphur mines to the blood-drenched sands of Emperor Nero's Coliseum. Will Jesus' sacrifice ultimately liberate Barabbas, the man who refused to die?
