Plot Storyline
An FBI agent pursues an escaped kidnapper.
Having a rap sheet for such, Gerry Barker has been convicted for extortion of a small amount of money found on his possession and sentenced for one to five at Cascabel Federal Penitentiary. Speculation by most in the know is that he will serve his relatively short time as the model prisoner, only to retrieve what was the rest of the extorted money, a total of $200,000, after his release. Further speculation is that he is guilty of a more serious crime of kidnapping and possibly murder, that part of the case yet unsolved, with he revealing nothing to that effect in his cold demeanor, the reason he receives the moniker "The Iceman" by the media and ultimately the public. Despite the relatively minor extortion offense, the warden decides to house Barker with four of the most hardened criminals, namely murderers 'Machine Gun' Mason and Benny Kelly, smuggler Alamo Smith, and the top man, bank robber Rollo Lamar, to see if they can melt his icy demeanor in viewing a convict for what he is purported to have done with disdain. The play between the four and Barker is played out under Rollo's plan for him. Meanwhile, Royal Gorge Park Ranger Will Erickson and FBI Agent James Madden continue their investigation hopefully to conclude the central item surrounding Barker's conviction by discovering evidence to his guilt or innocence in the matter for which he was not charged.
