Her getting married leaves other past lovers in her wake, including newspaper colleagues Les Burns and Al Herrick, both who would have wanted to marry her themselves but who did not have the stature to allow her to reach her goal. While somewhat admitting to herself that she may have loved only one, she still would not be averse to using him to his demise if it got her money and power.
