CIA agent Avery Graves (Kate Beckinsale) returns home to Zagreb to her husband David Brooks (Rupert Friend) after a grueling but successful mission in Tokyo. Shortly thereafter, David is kidnapped. The anonymous blackmailer demands that Avery obtain a USB drive called "Canary Black" for him. It is said to contain compromising information about politicians and high-ranking government officials worldwide, making them vulnerable to blackmail. The drive is supposedly hidden in one of Laszlo Stoica's (Luka Alagic) teeth. Stoica is being held captive by the CIA in a secret detention facility, a so-called "black site." Avery gains access under false pretenses and rips the tooth from the defiant Stoica's mouth. Her own agency now considers Avery a traitor in possession of "Canary Black." While being hunted by colleagues, including Carter Maxfield (Jaz Hutchins), Avery finally learns the truth about "Canary Black." And also about her husband David, who is by no means working for a charity.
