Already having won numerous accolades and set a world record in Ultracycling, Bharat Pannu of the Indian Army eyes another extreme feather in his cap: to set the world record of being the fastest solo cyclist to ride from Leh to Manali in the Himalayas. The terrain is arduous and the weather is unforgiving. The journey is a long one - it takes years of planning, with numerous people involved to take on this mammoth task. Pannu is backed by his everready trustworthy Crew of motivated individuals of all backgrounds and ages, including his coach from the US. Part of the team travelled to Leh three weeks before the actual event to train and acclimatize, taking in the breathtaking scenery on the way. All Crew members have dedicated roles to look after and work towards performing those challenges. Major challenges include the cold weather and lack of oxygen: all of which manifest in form of trouble at the first pass, Tanglang La. The team navigates through this issue, although with a little trouble, and the expedition is back on track. Pannu expresses his gratitude towards his Crew and mentions all that the Crew has to do. Through thick and thin, the team cross the finish line in Manali in 35 Hours 32 Minutes and 22 Seconds, setting a new World Record recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.
