The intertwined stories of otherwise seemingly unrelated individuals in New York City in the approach to midnight New Year's Day 2012 are told, this day which for many signifies hope for the future and renewal. They include: an elderly terminally ill cancer patient alone in the world who has one last New Year's wish if he can only make it that long; his night nurse who has her own special date at midnight; two couples at that hospital who are vying to have the first baby of 2012 at the hospital and thus collect the lucrative financial prize that goes along with it; two roommates with opposing wants for the day, one who wants to party to the extreme and other who will treat it as another meaningless day; one of their neighbors who is trying to make it to a potentially career altering gig; the meek personal assistant to a record company executive, the assistant who has made a list of New Year's resolutions to change her invisible life; a music superstar performing at the Times Square main event, he who has other thoughts on his mind, and who may or may not know that the object of his thoughts is catering the event, she in turn not wanting to see him; the best man at an out of town wedding trying to make it back into town to give a consequential family legacy speech, but arguably more importantly in his mind possibly - hopefully - to reconnect with the unknown woman of his dreams that he met one year ago; and a responsible fifteen year old who wants to spend the night at Times Square to receive her first real kiss from the boy she likes at midnight, she willing to defy her divorced mother if it comes to that. Everything is centered on Times Square and the annual midnight ball drop which is being managed for the first time by the new Vice President of the Times Square Alliance, she who is under extreme pressure to get it right not only as the whole world is watching but for one special person in her life.
