Plot
Storyline
Chico is a young piano player with big dreams. Rita is a beautiful singer with an extraordinary voice. Music and romantic desire unites them, but their journey - in the tradition of the Latin ballad, the bolero - brings heartache and torment.
In bustling late-1940s Cuba, Chico, a talented but struggling piano-playing dreamer, discovers Rita, the beautiful jazz vocalist of an after-hours Havana club. Indeed, this is love at first sight; however--as the two idealists share the same irresistible attraction for both music and stardom--more and more, Chico and Rita's passionate love affair resembles a bittersweet journey to absolute bliss and, inevitably, heartbreak.
