Vampires and witches in the modern world. Has a complete new spin on the concept. Dark Ones and Light Ones (sort of like in Constantine) battle it out while the light try to maintain a shaky truce. The Daywatch must investigate abuses for the Lightside. A good movie to watch, but you must pay attention. The main plot of the movie is about an apocalyptic war that the Light Ones are trying to prevent and the Dark Ones are trying to instigate, as well as a love story between a Light One trainer and his trainee Sveta, who is a "Great One" which means she has extraordinary powers. There are a few subplots as well, one is a boy on the Dark side who is actually the son of a Light One; a Dark One who is the wife of the head of the Dark Ones and she becomes enamored of a younger man; a monk who guards the "Chalk of Fate" which is part of the main story line; and also the rivalry between the heads of both the Dark and Light Ones and how they interact with their followers. It all comes to a head at the birthday party of the Dark One son of the Light One. The boy is also a "Great One" and also uses his power to try to start a war by attacking Sveta without drawing blood.
