Edith Welland, in the business for four years thus far, is a Toronto-based struggling actress. Since appearing in a yet unscreened independent film years ago, her career has gone nowhere. She blames everyone except herself for her stalled career, that blame especially directed toward casting directors. She also blamed her most recent boyfriend, Ben, with who she broke-up to focus on her career. She feels that it is solely an act of revenge when she learns that Ben has since gone into acting himself. She begins not to be able inwardly to celebrate the talent and successes, however minor, not only of her acquaintances but also her closest friends in the business, including who may be arguably her two closest friends, fellow actress and roommate Clare Edwards, and sitcom writer and stand-up comic, Nick. With her self-confidence taking a nosedive, she begins to make some reckless and selfish choices in all aspects of her life solely for validation in any regard, and to bring herself emotionally up to the level of her friends and colleagues. These choices may come back haunt her, unless she can realize and address her downward spiral as the core of these decisions.
