After Armaan's father re-marries, he leaves home to make a living in Mumbai, and dramatically befriends Shiva, who left home because he could not stand his army colonel father's abuse. They are able to rent a room from Sub-Inspector Havaldar Singh who has imposed celibacy on himself until he apprehends Patlu Singh Don. Armaan finds a job and then falls in love with upcoming actress/model, Soniya, while Shiva falls in love with conservative and religious Anjali. Differences crop up between the two couples as both Armaan and Anjali want to get married and then get intimate, while it is the opposite with Shiva and Soniya. Then Armaan's gets upset when he discovers Shiva has been dating Soniya, and confronts him. After Shiva confesses that he did not know that Soniya is Armaan's girlfriend, they go to talk to her to find out who she really loves. And it is this meeting that will not only shock them but also change their lives forever.
