Elle a Passe Tant d\'heures Sous les Sunlights (1985)

An young actor, the film he is shooting, and his double-the director himself, appearing on screen-create a play of mirrors between fiction and mise en abyme. At its core lies a filmmaker's disarray after the departure of Marie, the woman he loves. A third, almost documentary layer intertwines: encounters with Chantal Akerman, the memory of Jean Eustache, and a dialogue with Jacques Doillon. These fragments do not form a linear narrative but converge around a single obsession-solitude, failure, drugs, and death. The only glimmer of hope may be the director's child, whom he does not dare to film, showing only a still image taken from "L'Enfant secret".
