The Carpathians, 1851. More than anything in the world, wisecracking entertainer extraordinaire Elvira wants to fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her own Parisian revue. Instead, she and her put-upon maid, Zou Zou, find themselves forced out of their room. Undaunted by their bad luck, they set off for Paris, but get stranded in the mysterious Carpathian Mountains. Enter the suave gentleman, Dr Bradley, who takes them to Castle Hellsubus. There, Lord Vladimere has been mourning the loss of his late wife for ten years. As the voluptuous visitor stirs up chaos around the estate, the eccentric host becomes increasingly fixated on Elvira. Meanwhile, a peculiar portrait above the mantelpiece spells trouble for innocents and backstabbers alike. With the castle's horrible secrets waiting to be discovered, will Elvira receive a standing ovation, or will she never escape the haunted hills?
