Plot
Storyline
Two Broadway showgirls who are also sisters are sick and tired of New York, and sick and tired of getting nowhere. They decide to quit Broadway and travel to Paris to try their luck and talent there.
An adaptation of the novel "Gentlemen Marry Brunettes" (1927) by Anita Loos. The sisters Bonnie and Connie Jones are Broadway performers, representing the second generation of a sibling duo that was originally started by their mother Mitzi Jones and their aunt Mimi Jones. The sisters regularly receive wedding proposals by several would-be lovers. Connie has rejected every offer, while Bonnie is unable to resist any offer. She is simultaneously engaged with several men, causing a minor social scandal. After an argument between the sisters over Bonnie's love life, they receive a job offer to perform in France. They take the offer, meeting their new employers and promoters Charlie Biddle and David Action in Paris. The sisters have some initial success, and their promoters are soon smitten with them. The sisters receive job offers from several Parisian casinos, but these involve requests to appear in skimpy clothing for an audience. They turn down these offers, but they do agree to a performance which has their bodies suggestively hidden below long feathers. Their mother orders them to return home to New York, disapproving of her daughters being used to attract lusty males. Miserable without their love interests, Charlie and David eventually arrive in New York with the intention to propose to their respective girlfriends.
