Karin falls on her head in retirement. Her husband Harald would rather save up for a stair lift than finally go overseas with Karin. In order to bring freshness into her life, the fit senior citizen follows the example of her funky sister-in-law Philippa, who supports young parents as a volunteer grandmother. Unlike Philippa, a teacher and grandmother by profession, Karin has little practical experience with children. However, she quickly manages not only to gain the trust of the neglected Jannik. Even his pubescent sister Merle thinks the straightforward senior is cool. Karin's old friend Gerhard, whom she dragged along to the grandparents' agency, is also doing much better than expected.
