Plot Storyline
Villagers in World War II China are unsure what to do with the two enemy prisoners who have been left in their care.
In a small village near the Great Wall, the Second Sino-Japanese War looms. War is hell, but things get messy when unsuspecting peasant Ma Dasan is entrusted with two unexpected guests: a belligerent Japanese sergeant and a servile Chinese interpreter. Now, the reluctant countryman must keep them safe and sound until the eve of the Chinese New Year. However, the community is trapped in a dangerous cul-de-sac; they just don't know it yet. As the weeks turn into months, the villagers must make a critical decision. After all, who is safe when devils are on the doorstep?
