Vincent Ogier, a student at the Ecole nationale superieure des mines de Paris, is sent to Guyana for a ten-month internship to prospect in the forest in search of gold, with his internship supervisor Merlot for the benefit of the company Cayenorn. Merlot discovers a very promising site and decides to resell the coordinates to Serra, notorious kingpin of Guyanese gold, in order to ensure a quiet life, being suffering from an incurable cancer. But all will not go as planned and young Vincent will then find himself plunged into the tumults of illegal gold panning, thus discovering a harsh reality ...
