Plot:
Kemijarvi Pulp Mill in Northern Finland has been decided to close down, but locals from adults to children rise up in rebellion against an overpowering enemy. Pupils at Kallaa Elementary School next to the factory write their fears and hopes into a speech addressed to the members of Parliament and President of Finland. The efforts of the tightly knit community culminate in a grand train journey to stage a demonstration in Helsinki. Are the locals' voices heard in meetings with the President, members of Parliament and management of Stora Enso Ltd? To whom does the power belong to in today's Finland? What is the suitable role for children in public debate, which affects their future? Rebels with a cause is a compelling journey into the heart of democracy, in which the elation and disappointments of a unique community are experienced from up close as things happen.
