Honest Thief

Marines veteran Tom Dolan leads a quiet life, stealing over the years nine million dollars from twelve small bank branches with outdated safes in seven states, leaving the police utterly clueless about the 'In and Out Bandit' for eight years. Seeking another storage for some of the cash, he meets clerk Annie Wilkins, they fall in almost instant love and he decides to switch to a quiet life, buying an apartment and engagement ring. To clear his conscience, he calls the FBI -as Tom Carter- to return the loot in exchange for 'merely' two years light prison. Agent John Nivens reluctantly comes check out a presumed umpteenth fake I&O, but he knows real inside info, and hands the key to millions in cash. To partner Ramon Hall's horror, Nivens steals the cash as their 'pension fund' and when senior agent Samuel Baker surprise-checks and realizes its' a setup, murders that witness. A cat and mouse game ensues, with Tom outsmarting Nivens and Hall, while Baker's partner Sean Meyers gradually catches up and Annie gets caught in the middle.
