Hot to Trot 1988

Fred Chaney is a simple-minded man whose mother has died. She leaves him half of the brokerage company she owned with her second husband Walter, whom Fred catches with another woman too soon after his mother's death. Walter throws Fred out of the house and tries to buy his share of the business for an insultingly-low sum. Fred also inherits a horse named Don--and learns that the horse can talk. Fred sends Don back to his family and starts working at the company. He isn't doing well until Don hears of a deal and informs Fred about it; Fred buys the stock and makes a fortune. Don moves in with Fred and continues to give him tips that help make him rich. Walter tries to find out how he is doing this, so he sends his secretary to find out, and she falls for Fred.
