Francois Perrin is a textbook example of a loser. Although he is a talented striker, he only plays in the second team of the city's soccer club. When he clashes with the team's star player, the unpleasant Brochard, the powerful club president not only kicks him out of the club, but also out of his factory. But things get even worse for Francois: due to a plot by the club bosses, he ends up in prison, even though he is innocent. When a replacement for Brochard is needed for an important away game, Francois is remembered and released from prison for the duration of the game. Now the hour of revenge has come for him.
