Psychiatrist Karla Eckhardt (Julia Koschitz) is tasked with determining whether the renowned architect Carsten Spanger is criminally responsible. He tied up a young woman in his basement and left her in mortal fear. Karla Eckhardt diagnoses him with a severe narcissistic personality disorder and soon suspects she is dealing with a seasoned criminal. Could Spanger be a serial killer? Karla soon believes that another of his victims is still trapped and helpless in a hiding place. Only Spanger can tell her where to look. But he remains silent and instead forces Karla to confront her own demons. Through her risky confrontation with Spanger, she loses the trust of the police and the district attorney's office. She now has only one way to save Spanger's victim: Karla must put herself entirely in his hands.
