Storyline
Docu of petite female leopard "Toto," born with lovely green "jade" color eyes, cub from great leopardess "Fig." Film shows Toto grow, learn needed survival skills & dangers from cub to young adult in Jourberts' African private preserve.
One of the best cub to young adult leopard documentary films created, a true gem from Jourberts' film collection. Great poetic yet fact based script written by Derek Jourbert. Exceptional narration by Jeremy Irons adds to beauty of this gorgeous leopard film. Main leopard is named Toto, a small female leopard born from the extraordinary and great leopard mother Fig. Film follows Toto from birth to young adult, with nighttime heat vision filming included. Fig and Toto have a unique relationship. Instead of usual honey color, Toto has incredible green eyes, color of green jade- thus the title of the film "Jade Eyed Leopard." Film follows Toto's natural behavior starting as newborn cub, the significant natural dangers surrounding both her and mother Fig. Film shows and explains the critical survival lessons Toto must master from her experienced mother Fig to survive and thrive as an independent leopard in the reserve. While Toto grows and learns, the seasons change in Africa on Jourberts large private reserve, a protected "no game hunting" wild area for all wildlife. Lovely footage in high definition and quality. Film has humor and narration uniquely explains leopard behavior, not distracting from film. Every leopard's personality is distinct. Simply stunning film that viewer does not want to end.
