Asthmatic grandmother Safa and her six-month-old baby granddaughter Jasmina are transferred in a humanitarian convoy from besieged Sarajevo to a peaceful small city on the Adriatic coast. By a combination of circumstances, their first neighbour is Stipe, an alcoholic troublemaker who constantly complicates their lives. During one of her asthma attacks, Safa has no choice but to ring Stipe's bell and hand him the baby. Stipe willingly looks after her, but then Safa dies at the hospital and Stipe is left alone with the baby. He's clumsy, even funny. She becomes his only mission in life. He is not ready to give Jasmina away to anyone. He loves her like she's his own daughter. Suddenly someone's at the door and Stipe recognizes her as Jasmina's mother.
