Lindsay's boyfriend Jason invites her to a dinner at a fancy restaurant. On her way there she receives a call with an offer for a professorship at Yale and the chance to publish her book. During the dinner, Jason proposes to her but her new job offer, which means she must move, ruins it as he can't agree to move. Crushed, Lindsay walks into a park where she meets a mysterious coachman who says that she needs some perspective. The next morning Lindsay wakes up and it's three years later and she's a famous author with a successful life at Yale. When she visits her hometown, Jason is on his way to marry another girl and things get complicated. Can she go back?
