Plot
Storyline
A greenhouse worker and the son of Churchill Downs' CEO form an unlikely pair, coming together to save the Kentucky Derby rose blanket and uncovering a generational love story along the way.
Based in Cincinnati, Ash Taylor owns and operates Taylor Heritage, a construction company specializing in community projects. He uses his mother's surname, his middle name, to escape the legacy that he is the son of Frank Reed, the CEO of Churchill Downs. Frank condescendingly refers to Ash's company as "do-gooder work". However, Ash's mother, Lillie Taylor Reed, is able to convince Ash to accept Frank's offer to work on a repair job at Churchill Downs on a roof and spire, damaged in a windstorm, and which needs to be completed by the Kentucky Derby in two week's time. Sadie Moore is a fourth generation greenhouse worker, whose family tends to the infield gardens at Churchill Downs. Against her mother's wishes in not solely following in the family business, Sadie, in a step in her dream of becoming a florist, moonlights in an entry level position with Delilah, known as the most exclusive but non-compromising and demanding florist in Louisville. Not knowing each other, Ash and Sadie meet at Churchill Downs in their respective work there, with an initial romantic spark between them. In a few projects in association to the Taylor Reed's, Sadie has an opportunity on her own to make a name for herself, a major problem being needing to source red roses, a seemingly impossible task this close to the Derby which is known for its red roses. Things between Sadie and Ash could be jeopardized when Sadie learns that he is a Taylor Reed, and on past history between Ash's Uncle Charlie, the designer and builder of the roof and spire under repair, and Sadie's Great Grandmother "Gigi", Gloria Green, the two who had planned to marry but the union which was kiboshed by Charlie's family in deeming Gloria to be a gold-digger. The true story of what happened between them, the heirloom engagement ring, and a custom made horseshoe necklace Charlie gave to Gloria seemingly died with them and remains the source of some dispute and thus animosity.
