L'Amour par terre - 1984 - Jacques Rivette

Two actresses, Charlotte and Emily, are invited by a reclusive playwright, Clement Roquemaure, to rehearse a new stage production in his grand, somewhat eerie mansion on the outskirts of Paris. As rehearsals begin, the women realize that the script-centered on love, betrayal, and hidden identities-starts to echo their own lives in unsettling ways. Gradually, the boundary between acting and real life dissolves. The actresses become entangled in a strange psychological game orchestrated by Roquemaure, where it's unclear what is scripted and what is genuine. Encounters in the house, including with its enigmatic inhabitants, deepen the sense of intrigue and ambiguity.
