Plot
Storyline
After being falsely accused of being insane and put in an asylum so his wicked aunt and her daughters could steal his money, a recently released young man returns to seek the ultimate revenge against them.
Juan returns from an asylum to his Spanish village, eyeing his scheming aunt and three cousins with unclear intent. He performs small kindnesses while orchestrating elaborate cruelties, his sanity perpetually in question. The family mirrors his ugliness back at him. Trust disintegrates. A bell tower looms over everything, literal and metaphoric, as revenge and madness blur into one suffocating atmosphere. Nobody here deserves sympathy, yet someone might earn it anyway.
