Plot
Storyline
The tale of an Occidental merchant whose dreams of riches for his beloved daughter collapse under the weight of his own greed and prejudice.
In Malaysia in the 1950s, a European merchant is obsessed with finding a treasure to secure his daughter's future. His dreams fall victim to the pressure of his own greed, which becomes a torment. Added to this is the oppressive English domination that dominates the country - and brings ruin to the remote village in which he lives.
