Lama, based on a true story is about a woman, a blond beauty, who is seen by her students as a spiritual master. She relates an episode to her devoted followers involving the cleansing of her husband's distress. She explains that he is deeply admiring and loving but tortured. The story then flashes back to the night when she channels Kali, the dark goddess of empowerment and tries to cure her surprised but pliant lover through passionate knife wounds to his torso. He is healed! Upon hearing this, a shocked community orders them to leave. The couple is devastated but then resigned. They go but on their own terms. United in love they walk out the door into the unknown.
