Lemmy Caution goes on vacation to the Cote d'Azur. First, he is hunted in the streets by dozens of women who recognized the famous secret agent; then he is chased by a pretty woman driving a car. This woman gets to accost him in a restaurant, tells her name, and is asking him for help when some acquaintances of hers arrive, and she leaves, pretending not to know him. Claudia sets a date with him at a cliff hear her house, overlooking the sea, but when Lemmy arrives, he finds her dying at the foot of the cliff. He brings the body to the home, and finds she shared it with three other young women, all of whom are married with important men from different NATO countries. First, all of them pretend it was an announced suicide but as Lemmy prods them and their husbands, he soon learns that a fifth friend of theirs had accidentally drowned six years ago. Lemmy treads on a path full of false leads. Eventually all is revealed: they are victims of blackmail to reveal professional secrets of their husbands. But are they all victims?
