A Stockholm theater company is mounting a production of Aristophanes' Lysistrata, which is about the title female character's quest to end a war, the production to tour throughout the country. The three female leads, Liz, Marianne, and Gunilla, all have personal issues which place a strain on their home lives. While the three women are different in temperament, they each begin to meld their stage lives with their personal lives as they largely meet indifference and apathy by the audiences, and as they deal emotionally with their place as women in the world largely controlled by men, and at a micro level by the male significant other at home. At the end of the run, they will all return to their regular lives and those issues which faced them when they left to start the tour.
