In the early 1980s, a new era dawned in France with the election of socialist Francois Mitterrand as president. Brothers Philippe and Jerome lived somewhere in the French countryside and passionately ran a pirate radio station that played post-punk and new wave music. The older brother Jerome is the fun-loving presenter, while Philippe devotes himself to the technical side and creates new music through sampling. His dreams of becoming a musician are abruptly interrupted when he is called up for military service. Military service takes Philippe to the French sector of West Berlin, where he surprisingly gets the opportunity to gain insight into the British foreign broadcaster and go to punk parties in East Berlin. Philippe blossoms, while his brother Jerome gets worse and worse. And then there's Marianne, whom both brothers want to date.
