Plot
Storyline
MARI is a moving dance-drama focused on a mother and her two daughters dealing with the devastating gradual decline and eventual passing of their mother and grandmother, Mari. Centered on the tensions that linger over the family's strained relationships, Mari's ill health brings them all together, forcing them to deal with their issues and find a way through a time of shared loss.
Boldly combining the power of dance and cinema MARI tells the life-affirming story of professional dancer and choreographer Charlotte as she prepares for a new show. Using the poetic expression of dance to drive the narrative, Charlotte's world is turned upside down when she discovers she is pregnant and her grandmother Mari is coming to the end of life. As an uneasy weekend with her family progresses, Charlotte's own mortality sinks in, truths about the women in her life surface, and Charlotte is driven to find new meaning in places she'd previously avoided or dismissed, giving her a new perspective on herself and the future she wants.
