It is a new town and a new station for Police Sergeant and single dad Wayne Caraway and his teenage daughter Casey, who just moved in next door to the kind-hearted local farm boy Jonas Ford. Inevitably, the two teenagers who are meant for each other will soon bond and Casey will find a brief interval of rest from the abusiveness of her violent alcoholic father, as Jonas escapes from the lengthy and laborious activities of the farm. However, sooner or later the mean nature of Sergeant Wayne will surface, and Jonas, after witnessing a triple homicide in a deal that went horribly wrong, he will find the courage and his only chance to protect Casey and run away to the Autumn backwoods of Ontario. With his daughter gone and almost a million of dollars he killed for it missing, Wayne won't let go that easily the couple of runaways who amateurishly leave a long trail of bread crumbs behind them. Can the innocent youngsters outsmart the persistent Sergeant?
