- Short biography: Anupam Kant Verma is a writer and director of Indian origin based in Toronto. He's written and directed three short films. He loves genre and melds classic storytelling with inventive formal technique to create film experiences that transcend boundaries. He wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in a horror thriller, Checkmate (2020). He wrote, directed, produced and did the sound design for a romantic comedy, Lemonade (2023). The Big After (2024), his third film, is an atmospheric horror tone poem. He has also played the lead role in three short films produced in India. His fourth film, a horror drama, which he wrote, directed and produced, is in post production. His short film project, Cut, was selected for The Shorts Program by the Rickshaw Film Foundation. He is developing a horror anthology series and his first feature film, a genre fluid haunted house mystery about the immigrant experience.
