- Short biography: Hooroo Jackson is an American film director, screenwriter, editor and film theorist, whose groundbreaking work in artificial intelligence has led to several firsts in the history of cinema. Born on December 3rd, 1985, in Baltimore, MD to immigrant parents, his father was a math genius and his mother was a painter. Hooroo first gained attention as a wunderkind editor, placing third in a national C-SPAN competition in 2003. In 2015, Jackson released "Aimy in a Cage," starring Allisyn Ashley Arm, Crispin Glover, Paz de la Heurta, and Academy Award Nominee Terry Moore. "Aimy in a Cage" won him the Director's Prize at the 2015 Portland Film Festival. On July 21, 2023, he released "Window Seat", the first feature film ever made with fully AI video and AI performances. At 61 minutes and a budget of just $100, it represented a landmark in cinema history. On July 3, 2024, Jackson premiered "DreadClub: Vampire's Verdict". A 2D animated film in the anime style, it was the first full-length animated film with 100% of its sound, music, video, and performances made with AI tools. It also experimented with AI editing. In December 2024, Jackson released The New Machine Cinema: Foundational Essays in AI Film Theory, the most comprehensive theoretical framework for AI cinema to date. The New Machine Cinema presented several concepts such as 'One Man, One Film', the ultimate expression of Andrew Sarris' auteur theory, 'Speed of the Mind', a cinema at the pace of human thought, and 'The Living, Breathing Cinema,' a new malleable cinema. In May 2025, Jackson premiered 'A Very Long Carriage Ride.' The first film in the history of cinema released in two different styles simultaneously, in the process becoming the first stop motion animated feature film, and the first classic style animated feature film made entirely with AI; in the process proving the concept of "The Living, Breathing Cinema" outlined in Jackson's essays. With the film, Jackson published a supplemental essay called, "One Film, Two Ways: Introducing A Very Long Carriage Ride."
