She was born Kathryn Lynn Bodenhamer in the small town of Hershey, NE, to Nancy (Kellogg), a lab technician, and Richard Bodenhamer Jr., a farmer and rancher. Bodenhamer began performing theatre at an early age in grade school, then landed lead roles as a freshman in college and community theatrical productions, one of which earned her a Best Actress invitation to the national Irene Ryan competition.
