Plot Storyline
Murray Head performs in the music video "One Night in Bangkok" from the album "Chess" recorded for RCA Records. The video begins with an animated chessboard breaking down. It features scenes of Murray Head walking the back alleys of a slum before he enters a room with a chessboard floor of black and white tiles and begins to sing. Clips of Murray playing chess against an exotic play throughout.
It begins with cast member Murray Head disembarking a ship in Bangkok's port via the gangplank. He has arrived for the World Chess Championship, to be held in the city that year. Scenes of Murray Head playing chess with a beautiful girl, chorus singers in Asian accoutrements, and other exotic representations of Bangkok play, as Murray and the Chorus cynically tell through song of the pitfalls of playing in the constantly venue changing tournament, particularly in this city: swarming with tourists of less than pure motives, who don't appreciate the lofty intellectual heights of the event being held in their midst.
