Oklahoma, 1906. Widowed farmer Henry McCarty (Tim Blake Nelson) leads a simple life. Much to the annoyance of his 15-year-old son Wyatt (Gavin Lewis), who dreams of adventure, he swears by the Bible and thinks little of shooting skills. When Henry finds the seriously injured Curry (Scott Haze) and a leather bag full of dollar bills on his land, he takes the unconscious stranger to his remote farm. Soon, three men show up, claiming to be sheriffs and searching for the alleged outlaw. Henry manages to fend off the experienced leader Ketchum (Stephen Dorff), his henchman Dugan (Richard Speight Jr.), and the tracker Stillwell (Max Arciniega). However, the eccentric farmer knows that the armed horsemen will return. As a fight becomes increasingly inevitable, he tries to get the truth out of Curry about himself and the money. Ketchum, on the other hand, would like to know who "Old Henry" was before his peaceful life as a farmer. When it comes to the showdown, both are in for a surprise.
