Helene is a successful woman who works as a lecturer at the Sorbonne. A responsible mother who separated from her son's father and is raising the boy alone. But one day she meets Alexandre at a party in Porto. She spends a passionate night with him. On her return to Paris, Helene keeps bumping into Alexandre, who works at the Russian embassy, quite by chance. An aura of mystery and emotional aloofness surrounds him. Although he is married - his wife lives in Russia - the increasingly frequent meetings develop into a passionate affair. Helene constantly finds her thoughts wandering to Alexandre and the next meeting.
