Plot
Storyline
The exploits of Sir Perceval, a legendary exemplar of knightly chivalry and one of the champions of King Arthur's Round Table.
Defying his mother's wishes-she who had seen her husband and two other sons perish in battle-Perceval decides to become a knight. Upon arriving at King Arthur's court, Perceval wishes to defend a maiden who has been struck, but the king has forgotten to knight him. He will be dubbed a knight some time later by a wise and noble man, Gornemant of Goort. Perceval then reaches the city of Beaurepaire, besieged and threatened by famine. There he meets Blanchefleur and defeats Anguingueron the seneschal and Clamadieu. Leaving Blanchefleur to go and see his mother, the knight stays at the castle of the Fisher King, where a strange feast takes place. Reserved, he asks no questions of his host, and upon leaving the castle, encounters a hideous creature who reproaches him for his silence and condemns him to wander for a long time. He indeed loses his way in the mist and there finds a weeping maiden whom he had once kissed. Forced to fight her protector, he kills him. King Arthur, astonished by so many feats, decides to set out in search of him. But Perceval prefers solitude. Five years pass, during which he wanders without ever finding the Grail Castle again. Then a hermit tells him of his mother's death. Stricken with grief and remorse, alone in the middle of the moor, Perceval departs for the last time.
