Pierre is in his mid-30s and passionately runs his family's small dairy farm in the French countryside - alone. His cows are not only his livelihood, but also his closest companions. But when a highly infectious animal disease breaks out in the region, his everyday life is put to the test. Once an animal is infected on a farm, the entire herd has to be culled. When one of Pierre's cows actually falls ill, he makes the desperate decision to prevent the culling of his herd by any means necessary - even if it means breaking the law and putting himself in danger. But his plan has serious consequences. Pierre becomes increasingly isolated, becomes entangled in a web of secrets and lies and is confronted with a moral dilemma that pushes him to his limits. He comes into conflict with his sister, who works as a vet and feels torn between family loyalty and professional responsibility. Not only his parents, but also his neighbors and his friends from the village become suspicious of Pierre's strange behavior. In an increasingly tense atmosphere, every action seems to have a lasting effect on the fate of his farm and his life.
