A promotional video for Prince's 1984 hit single "When Doves Cry."
The release of the video, directed by the Prince himself, took place in June 1984. The video begins with the flight of white pigeons appearing from behind the doors, and then they show Prince in the bathroom. The video includes a scene from the movie "Purple Rain", consisting of a short speech by The Revolution, singing and dancing in a white room. The final part of the video includes a mirror image of the left side of the picture, creating a duplication effect. The video was nominated for best choreography in 1985 for the MTV Video Music Awards. The video aroused controversy among the leaders of TV channels, some of whom believed that the sexual nature of the video was too frank for television.
