Jake Lo, a Chinese American art student haunted by the death of his father during the Tiananmen Square crackdown, is drawn into danger after witnessing Antonio Serrano murder businessman Carl Chang at a pro democracy fundraiser. Marked for elimination, he becomes the focus of both organized crime and compromised law enforcement officials. While federal agents attempt to control his movements, Lo uncovers corruption within his protection detail and escapes. Chicago detective Karla Withers and veteran investigator Mace Ryan recruit him into a larger effort targeting Kinman Tau's narcotics network. As operations escalate into shootings, raids, kidnappings, and betrayals, Lo becomes an active participant in dismantling the organization while confronting personal truths tied to his family's past.
